i know it doesn't
mean much
but i mean it when i say
i didn't mean to hurt you
or get in your way
we shouldn't
hide our feelings
why does it always show
we're always really sorry
when it's time to go
it doesn't
make a difference
we can all play innocents
and say we're not to blame
neither understood the other
or
the rules of the game
Take your paper flowers
and cast them in the air
im no longer with you
and you no longer care
take the lies and promises
tell them to your heart
forget where the ending
was
return to the start
take the world you started with
turn it up side down
see the smile you
once adored
turn swiftly to a frown
take the faded memories
play with them as you will
turn them
inside out
and im in there still
give the broken dreams
time to heal and mend
and light the empty
candle
for this forgotten friend
